About GST Late Fees

What is the late fee for GSTR-3B?

If you have tax liability, the late fee is ₹50 per day (₹25 CGST + ₹25 SGST), capped at ₹10,000. For nil returns (no tax, no ITC), the late fee is ₹20 per day (₹10 + ₹10), capped at ₹10,000.

Is there interest on unpaid GST?

Yes. Apart from the late fee, if you have unpaid tax, you are liable to pay 18% interest per annum from the day after the due date until the date of actual payment. This is calculated on the net tax payable (after ITC).
